The Sultan of Brunei, who is said to have a net worth of US$22 Billion in 2007, prefers to have his days off at his own royal abode in the ritzy Rancho Santa Fe, California in the USA, which is home to other popular and/or moneyed personalities. The King of Spain, Juan Carlos is an avid sailor who does an annual pilgrimage in Portugal and the marina town of Cascais in LIsbon, where he spends his time at the plush Grand Real Villa Italia Hotel and Spa. The annual King Juan Carlos Cupregatta sailing competition is regularly held in Cascais.

According to recent news two of the world’s top luxury resort groups have announced their planned merger. Ultimate Resort and Private Escapes is allegedly merging to create the ultimate destination club. The new club is said to own more than 140 properties and 60 boutique style hotels for their 1200 members to enjoy. According to representatives for the new company they are the fastest growing destination club in a $1 Billion industry. CEO’s of the two companies claim that by merging their talents and strengths they will be fostering a much stronger family of destination club resorts.
Although the new company has stated that they will be raising their prices the money may be well spent as than plan to run on a more sustainable business operation. With all the eco-friendly resorts popping up all over the world this may be an extremely profitable decision on their part. For them and the environment. The club claims that their merger will aid them in their ability to supply their guests with unprecedented commitment and luxury amenities, leaving their members with unparalleled vacation memories.

Robb Report’s yearly “Best of the Best” edition names leading exclusive destination club Exclusive Resorts as the “Best Full-Size Destination Club”. This is the fourth time that the club has been awarded such distinction, and the third time it has been named the “Best of the Best” in its category.
The major factors that won the citation for the club is its “continued growth, the exceptional choice and flexibility the club offers members, and the innovative programs the club has put in place to enhance the value of membership and continue shaping the future of the industry”.

Robb Report’s article also stated that Exclusive Resort’s distinction is the depth and variety of vacation packages, the club’s growing residences portfolio, and its programs that ensures maximum room for choice and flexibility to help in the member’s travel decisions.
