Luxury Travels for Budget-Conscious Travelers

Luxury and budget are two words that wouldn’t come together when one talks about vacations in luxury resorts. Luxury translates to 5-star accommodations, while budget translates to cheaper accommodations. That isn’t always the case.

The weakening dollar value would seem to narrow one’s chances of setting aside resources for travel and choices of destinations. But that should not be the case at all, as these times in fact offer greater opportunities for travelers.

1. Go to luxury resorts in countries where the local currency is weaker against the dollar. An example of this is the $425 a day room at the Four Seasons Hotel in Buenos Aires. The Argentine currency is only 1/3 value of the U.S. dollar.

2. Take advantage of off-peak season rates. You will be amazed at the discounted prices you get for food and lodging when you arrange for accommodations during off-peak seasons. A very good example are top resort destinations in the Caribbean that slash down prices during its summer and fall seasons where the islands have hurricane threats. The key is to go to certain islands that are rarely hit by hurricane such as the St. Maarten.

3. Rent a villa when traveling in groups. There are so many luxury destinations out there that offer up to 65% discounted rates for villas rented out to groups of vacationers. An example of this is the Castle Oliver in Kilmallock, Ireland, that can accommodate up to 18 guests who will truly enjoy its reputation as the country’s largest wine cellar, with its wine and canapé welcome, full Irish breakfast, and butler services.

With all these options, there’s no reason why the shaky dollar value should dampen one’s enthusiasm for luxury travel.
